* WHO CAN/SHOULD RIDE HERE *
INDY is a root filled, hilly, technical and challenging system. IMO it is for Intermediate and Expert riders.
If you are a true Beginner, I highly recommend taking advantage of Kinsey to get some miles and experience under your belt. Check out the provided Kinsey review.
BEGINNER
A beginner could technically do the 4A loop here. It's less than a mile long.
INTERMEDIATE (A)
Leave the parking lot on the 4A to Parking Connector trail and hang a left on 4 at the intersection. Ride the remainder of 4, connect to and ride all of 5 and 6. When you reach the Fire Road at the end of 6, go left and come out on LaSalle Blvd. Climb LaSalle Blvd back to the parking lot.

  • Follow me on Strava to view my Saved Routes, such as this one. You can use them as a guide when attempting to learn or try a new to you trail!
  • If you don't know how to find my routes on Strava, send me an email or text. Will gladly help.
  • I will be adding more routes like this one. Check back often.
  • These routes and reviews are only my opinion. Be aware of your own abilities. Bail out or hike a bike as needed.
  • Always wear a helmet and be safe.
INTERMEDIATE (B)
Same as Intermediate A, but rather than bail off 6 to LaSalle, turn around and retrace your ride. This will double your mileage and double the ass kicking climbs. Hike a bike as needed.
INTERMEDIATE (C)
Same as Intermediate A, but this time also complete trails 1 and 2. I do 1 counter clockwise. At the end of 2, take the Fire Road to LaSalle or do 6 and 5 backwards.
INTERMEDIATE +
You've come this far! Time to knock it all out. From the parking lot, follow the paved sidewalk to the north and start on trail 5. Complete 5, 6, 1, 2, 3 and 4 in order and return to the parking lot. Hike a bike as needed. If you complete the whole loop it's between 10-11 miles total. Well done
EXPERT
From the parking lot, follow the paved sidewalk to the north and start on trail 5. Complete 5, 6, 1, 2, 3 and 4 in order and return to the parking lot. Get a drink. Eat a snack. Complete the system in reverse order.
INDY KEY POINTS
  • THE TRAILS ARE NUMBERED 1 THRU 6
  • DEER EVERYWHERE! SERIOUSLY, DEER EVERYWHERE!
  • USE THE EAST PARKING LOT NEAR THE 4A TRAILHEAD
  • LARGE PARKING LOT
  • NO BATHROOM OR VAULT TOILET ON SITE
  • A FEW, BUT NOT A LOT OF NEARBY BAIL OUT OPTIONS
  • USE TRAILFORKS APP TO VIEW TRAILS, DISTANCE, DIRECTION, ELEVATION & MORE
  • USE STRAVA APP TO TRACK YOUR MILEAGE
*DISCLAIMER* Trail reviews are informational only. MTB trail riding can be dangerous. Do your research and ride at your own risk. XPLORAF is not associated with any MTB organization. Wear a helmet. Don't be stupid.
